The newest edition of Guida Cantine d'Italia 2008 edited by Go Wine and dedicated to Wine Tourism is now on bookstore shelves.
The guide lists 450 cellars open on weekends, 1,300 wines, descriptions of surrounding art and nature, 900 useful addresses for eating and sleeping and 23 full colour maps.
Among the 151 most prestigious listed, 24 are in Tuscany, 30 in Piedmont and 28 in the Veneto region.
It is a useful guide for those wishing to explore wine tourism.
The guide is edited by the president of the Go Wine association, Massimo Corrado and by journalist Massimo Zanichelli, among others.
The 450 cellars listed in the guide were chosen on the basis of direct experience, the possibility of being able to visit them on weekends and direct sales.
Every cellar includes a historic profile in addition to a listing of opening days and times, maps and directions, and tips on nearby art and nature sites.
Also included are their best wines and others that deserve a mention.
Stars were awarded based on three characteristics of the cellars: site, hospitality and production profile.
