500 Euros for a day on a Sardinian beach

Sardinia is famous for its exclusive clubs, yachts and very expensive sea-side establishments that charge exorbitant rates to allow you to spend time on the beach.

Flavio Briatore, the Renault F1 team manager, has two such locations in Sardinia, one in Porto Rotondo and on Porto Cervo. The Billionaire Beach club of Porto Rotondo, in the legendary Capriccioli beach, has just announced the prices for 2009. For July an umbrella and chair will set you back 280 euro while that will rise to 500 euro in August.

You would think that after you just spend 500 for a day at the beach some extra perks would be included. Well, not quite. A coffee, in this exclusive beach-side club, will cost you between 5-7 euro while a Coke and some melon are between 10-15 Euro.
If those are not enough but you are also a bit peckish you can order a salad - 75 Euro. The only extra: Briatore himself has been known to deliver the salads.

As many have commented, it is a heavenly spot with an amazing beach and sea - but the prices are hellish.
