The uncovered tax evasions by Italian financial police Guardia di Finanza (GdF) increased by 78% year-on-year for January to November 2007, the financial police said.
The financial police uncovered regional tax on productive activities (IRAP) evasions worth 13.5 bln euros ($19.74 bln) and Value Added Tax (VAT) evasions worth 4.2 bln euros ($6.14 bln), GdF said.
The uncovered IRAP evasions were up by 44% and the uncovered VAT evasions grew by 75%.
The figures were announced during the traditional press conference organised by GdF every December.
GdF-uncovered tax evasions were worth 27.7 bln euros ($40.5 bln) for January to November 2007, according to the financial police head, General Cosimo D'Arrigo.
According to the head of GdF, the figures are an absolute record high for the last 15 years.
