Italian financial police Guardia di Finanza (GdF) uncovered 8,262 tax evaders for the period between January and November 2007, GdF said.
The uncovered tax evaders for the first eleven months of 2007 increased by 20% compared to 6,841 in the same period of 2006.
The illegal employees and the employees in the grey sector uncovered by GdF totalled 29,447, up by 4.0% year-on-year.
GdF uncovered Value Added Tax (VAT) evasions from false invoices worth total 1.6 bln euros ($2.34 bln), up by 14% yearly.
The tax frauds uncovered by GdF amounted to 7,202, up by 9.0% year-on-year.
