Tuscany is first in Italy for quality and accommodations - The number of visitors to Tuscany's many agritourisms continued to grow during 2006 - and initial data from 2007 show the trend continuing.
Tuscany boasts the most number of authorized agritourisms in the country (23% of the total) - and is followed by Trento (17% of total) and Veneto (6.6% of total).
The numbers come from the latest IRPET, ARSIA and Regione Toscana data and record a 15% increase in arrivals during the first 11 months of 2006 and a 13.5% increase in total stays compared to 2005.
Agricultural tourism now represents 6.4% of the total among Tuscan tourists (compared to 5.3% in 2002).
Foreign visitors make up 62% of agricultural tourists.
Province leaders are Siena, Grosseto and Florence - the majority of the agritourisms are located in Siena and Florence.
The region boasts more than 3,700 units and approximately 46,000 beds (12.1 beds per site).
