Alitalia stockholders on Monday appointed Air France Chairman Jean-Cyril Spinetta, KLM Chairman and CEO Peter Hartman and Air France's Executive Vice President Bruno Matheu to the board of directors at the now private Italian carrier.
During a special meeting it was also decided to expand the board to 19 members in order to accommodate the three new members and to increase the company's capital in consideration of the 322 billion euros Air France-KLM will pay for a 25% stake in Alitalia.
Last week Jean-Louis Pinson was chosen to serve as partnership manager for the alliance between Alitalia and Air France-KLM, a post created after the Franco-Dutch airline bought its stake in the Italian carrier.
Pinson will leave his post as number two for Europe at Air France-KLM to take up the Rome-based job.
Aside from its three seats on the Alitalia board, Air France-KLM will also have the right to nominate the two out of nine members on the board's executive committee, which will be responsible for strategic decisions.
The other 16 members of the Alitalia board are: Chairman Roberto Colaninno; Deputy Chairman Salvatore Mancuso; CEO Rocco Sabelli, Francesco Caltagirone Bellavista, Cosimo Carbonelli D'Angelo, Achille D'Avanzo, Corrado Fratini, Fausto Marchionni, Francesco Paolo Mattioli, Gaetano Micciche', Ernesto Monti, Antonio Orsero, Massimo Angelo Riva, Carlo Toto, Maurizio Traglio and Marco Tronchetti Provera.
