Ancelotti hopeful but realistic

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti said Friday he hoped to be Kaka's coach ''for many more years''.

It was up to Milan and Kaka to weigh Man City's reported record-breaking 120 million euro bid, the coach said.

He indicated that he had not been consulted - just as was not when he lost Zinedine Zidane from Juventus to Real Madrid in 2001 for the current world record of 76 million euros.

''This is a matter for the player and the club to decide,'' Andreotti said.

Asked if there was ''a real chance'' of Kaka going, Ancelotti was cagey, saying only that he had ''an idea''.

Ancelotti added that while Kaka was ''a fundamental player'' Milan would still be aiming ''at least'' for the Champions League title and a UEFA berth even if the Brazil star goes to Manchester City.

Kaka would not be unduly affected by the transfer talks, the coach said.

''Kaka is a great professional. This situation is not unsettling him. He takes everything very calmly''.

Earlier, AC Milan supporters spraypainted the message Hands Off Kaka in front of the club's HQ.

A banner reading You Can't Touch Kaka was also draped across the office windows, while the club's website was jammed with protests.

Milan CEO Adriano Galliani left the offices later without talking to reporters.

Milan on Thursday announced they were ''weighing'' Manchester City's offer, said to be upwards of 120 million euros in transfer fee alone.

The player's contract would more than double that, according to some soccer experts.

Kaka on Wednesday appeared to rule out a move, saying he wanted to stay at Milan for life, but on Thursday his camp indicated he might consider a deal if Man City assures him they'll put together a team that can compete in Europe.

Galliani had consistently rejected approaches from Real Madrid for the 26-year-old attacking midfielder, who was both European Footballer of the Year and FIFA World Player of the Year in 2007.

Pundits say Milan's turnaround on letting Man City talk to the player means the bid might be even bigger than reported.

Kaka joined Milan from Sao Paulo for 8.5 million euros in 2003 and has won a Serie A title, a Champions League and a Club World Cup with Silvio Berlusconi's club.

He has played for Milan 171 times, scoring 62 goals.

He has 62 caps and 23 goals for his country.
