Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is unfazed by the media hype that erupted this week over Brazilian newcomer Pato's sensational debut for the club.
''His performance didn't really surprise me because I was expecting it,'' Ancelotti told reporters.
Pato set up one goal and scored another in Milan's 5-2 demolition of Napoli on Sunday night.
His agility on the ball and rapid-fire shooting electrified the Milan faithful and sparked a feeding frenzy in the media on the young 'phenomenon'.
But Pato will have to fight for his place ''like everyone else,'' Ancelotti said.
Ancelotti downplayed the risk of the glare going to the 18-year-old's head.
''I'm not afraid of Patomania because he's a very balanced and mature person, for all his youth''.
''Of course, we'll be looking after him, but I'm sure he'll be able to cope with all the fuss''.
As for Pato's boost to Milan's stuttering forward line, Ancelotti welcomed the ''fluidity and penetration'' that secured its first home league win - but said he was more impressed with the original Brazilian 'Phenomenon', 31-year-old Ronaldo.
''The one who amazed me with his display was Ronaldo,'' Ancelotti said.
Ancelotti was speaking ahead of Wednesday's Coppa Italia second round return leg against Catania.
Milan are looking to turn round a 1-2 deficit incurred at the San Siro on December 20.
Ancelotti will again field a second-string team but he stressed that handing the centre-forward's shirt to Alberto Gilardino ''isn't a demotion for him''.
''Every striker will be forced to compete, even Pippo (Inzaghi), now we have Ronaldo back and Pato with us too''.
