An Italian woman has been told to have sex to ward off attacks of anxiety.
The woman rushed to the first-aid unit of a hospital near Genoa earlier this week with a strong panic attack, local dailies reported.
She was given a gynecological examination by a doctor who told her to have sex twice a week.
He cautioned her, however, not to go beyond that limit.
The director of the hospital on Thursday backed the doctor's recommendation to the hilt.
He described the diagnosis and treatment as "extremely well motivated".
