Baia ancient baths light up at nightThe ancient Roman baths at Baia are opening up at night with evening tours around the archaeological site that enable visitors to see one of Campania's most beautiful sites in a different light from Friday to Sunday.

In ancient Roman times, Baia was the place where emperors and patricians stayed in the summer in their magnificent villas.

Groups of 50 people are taken on a 1.5 hour tour in the company of an actor-guide, who mixes with the visitors and with characters from the past, who are created with the help of special effects.

The first part of the tour takes tourists to the Villa dell'Ambulatio, where there is an introductory performance.

Then the group goes to the great garden and to the Mercury and Venus complexes.

The night-tour initiative, entitled "Bagliori d'Antichita'" (Rays of Antiquity), runs throughout October.
