Mario Balotelli is doing what Jose' Mourinho wants, but only when he is told, the Portuguese coach said Friday.
Explaining the Italy under-21 striker's recall to the side for Saturday's visit to Lecce, Mourinho said:
''Phase one for a player is when they don't do what the coach says, phase two is when they do what they're told, and phase three is when they do it without being told''.
''Mario is at phase two''.
Balotelli, 18, is vying for a place alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Serie A leaders' game against 16th-placed Lecce.
The Palermo-born teenager, who has Ghanaian parents, got his Italian citizenship last summer and has scored three goals in four games for the Italy Under-21 side.
He joined Inter in 2007 and has scored three goals in 19 appearances.
