David Beckham's lawyers are talking to the LA Galaxy in a bid to get the Major League Soccer club to let AC Milan approach the player, Milan CEO Adriano Galliani said Wednesday.
Galliani said Milan would be ''really happy'' if they are allowed to talk to the England star over extending his loan or an outright buy.
''He's a Galaxy player. We're hoping they decide to give him (to us) but unless they change their minds he's theirs,'' Galliani said on his way to a friendly with Rangers in Glasgow.
''At the moment there is neither optimism nor pessimism on our part''.
''We have time until the evening of March 8 to set up and close talks''.
''We will try to get him on loan until the end of the season or buy him outright, otherwise, to our great regret, Beckham will have to leave''.
Beckham, 33, joined Milan during the MLS's winter break to improve his chances of adding to his 107 England caps.
He has performed better than many expected, scoring two goals in five unbeaten matches.
He set up two more in Milan's 3-0 win at Lazio Sunday that leapfrogged them over Juventus into second place in Serie A, six points behind leaders Inter Milan.
