Britain's easy Jet to base 20 planes in MalpensaFlash News - British low-cost airline EasyJet plans to increase the number of its aircraft based in the Malpensa airport in Milan, northern Italy, to 20 by the end of 2010.

Currently, EasyJet operates eight aircraft based in Malpensa and will add another eight over the next 18 months.

The managements of Italian airport operator Societa Esercizi Aeroportuali (SEA), which manages Malpensa airport, and EasyJet met in London's Luton airport, were EasyJet is based, to discussed the carrier' development plan at Malpensa.

EasyJet aims to service 5.0 million passengers at the airport of Malpensa per year, compared to 2.5 million at present.

At the start of January 2007, EasyJet offered 278 destinations to 73 airports in 19 countries. In Italy it offered 37 destinations from Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, Rome Ciampino, Venice, Naples, Turin, Olbia, Cagliari, Palermo, Rimini and Pisa. In 2006, the airline transported more than 33 million passengers.
