Soccer: Capello 'is England coach'Fabio Capello has agreed terms to coach England, British media reported Thursday.

According to reports in various dailies, all that was missing to clinch the deal was a formal signature from 'Don Fabio'.

It's Fab! said the Daily Mirror, reporting, like other dailies, that the Italian supercoach had been offered a two-year contract worth something in the region of four million euros a year.

The Football Association has made no formal announcement other than a Wednesday night statement saying talks earlier that day with the ex-AC Milan, Real Madrid, Roma and Juve man had been ''very positive''.

Capello has ''the right age and the right experience'' to coach the English national squad, said Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

One of those experiences was in 1973, as a skilful Juventus midfielder, when he scored Italy's first-ever goal against England at Wembley, newspapers highlighted on Thursday.

When the final confirmation comes, Capello will replace Steve McLaren, who was sacked after England failed to qualify for Euro 2008.

The Italian coach last month declared a strong interest in the job.

''It would be a very interesting challenge and I've always loved interesting challenges,'' said the 61-year-old, who is currently a RAI commentator.

Capello, who won league titles with all his teams, said last year that coaching England had always been his ''dream''.

Pundits believe Capello has the CV and charisma to tackle the England job but may have problems settling in because of his imperfect English.

He is reportedly thinking of drafting in Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola to help him with the language, they said.

Newcastle and England icon Alan Shearer is being tipped as a top aide.

Capello became runaway favourite for the job after former Chelsea boss Jose' Mourinho pulled out.

England's next scheduled match is a friendly against France on March 26.

McLaren, a third-choice replacement for Sven Goran Eriksson in 2006, was axed after England's Euro 2008 debacle against Croatia at Wembley last month.
