UEFA's deal with Italian TV companies for coverage of the Champions League has been extended for the next three years.

Once again, pay-TV satellite broadcaster Sky Italia and state free-to-air broadcaster Rai will share the spoils for the 2009 to 2012 seasons while Premier Silvio Berlusconi's Mediaset empire misses out.

Rai will have first choice to show a live game on Wednesday night plus a highlights program on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sky will show all matches live.

Both broadcasters will be allowed to stream action on their websites and to mobile telephones.

''These valued partnerships demonstrate the continued strength of the Champions League,'' UEFA general secretary David Taylor said in a statement.

UEFA did not disclose the value of the deals.
