An Italian travel agency on Thursday denied it was encouraging obesity after it began offering heavily discounted flights to overweight young travellers.
CTS, which specialises in student travel, is offering cheap flights to holiday resorts in Spain and Greece from July 10-12 with the proviso that the more a passenger weighs, the less he or she will have to pay for a ticket.
The biggest discount of 60% will go to students weighing in at more than 80 kilos.
The agency, which has 185 branches across the country, stressed that it was trying to "challenge aesthetic stereotypes" and did not endorse unhealthy eating habits.
