French President Jacques Chirac did some public relations work for Tuscan olive oil on Thursday, telling Italian reporters it was "exquisite".
"Almost nothing else tastes as good, Chirac said, referring to oil produced in the Lucca area, venue of the Italo-French annual summit on November 24.
The president said he had "fond memories" of the summit with Italian premier Romano Prodi.
Chirac caused a stir during a three-way summit with German and Russian leaders in 2005, with a quip about British food.
"You can't trust people whose food is so bad , Chirac reportedly said, in a bid to get some laughs out of Russian President Vladimir Putin and former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder.
