Cocaine is floating around in the air of Rome, according to the latest air pollution survey.
The survey by the National Research Council (CNR) found the highest concentrations of cocaine and other drugs like cannabis and nicotine in the air of Rome University.
The level of cocaine was found to be higher in winter than at other times of the year, the CNR said. But CNR researcher Angelo Cecinato cautioned: "The causes of this pollution are yet to be established. We can't simply say this indicates more drugs are consumed or peddled there. "Because of the small number of measurements taken we can't really say with any great certainty that the university district is the most polluted with cocaine".
The survey also found higher concentrations of drugs in the air of city parks.
