Colosseum goes online

The Colosseum joined the age of technology on Friday, launching an online service which sells entry tickets for the famed site.

Tourists planning to see the monument can now purchase their tickets over the Internet at the site Tick@print, printing them out once they have bought them.

The service will enable visitors to avoid the long queues that usually form outside what is one of Rome's main tourist attractions.

Parents will also be able to download a new guide to the Colosseum specifically designed for young children.

The Colosseum is perhaps the most visited archeological site and museum in the world with some four million visitors a year.
