Former AC Milan defensive stalwart Alessandro Costacurta is to make his coaching debut at the helm of Serie B outfit AC Mantova.
Costacurta, who won five Serie A titles and five European Cup/Champions League trophies in his 20 years at Milan, was named Monday to replace Giuseppe Brucato.
Brucato was sacked after Mantova's 3-1 home loss to Parma left them 13th in Serie B, six points behind leaders Sassuolo.
Costacurta is currently a pundit for Sky TV having spent a year as assistant to Milan manager Carlo Ancelotti while getting his coach's badge.
The tall defender played 458 times for Milan between 1987 and 2007, becoming the oldest Champions League player in November 2006 and the oldest Serie A scorer by converting a penalty in his last home game in May 2007.
He won 59 Italy caps between 1991 and 1998, playing in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups and the 1996 European championships.
