Court upholds sacking of 'violent kiss' boss

Italy's highest appeals court on Tuesday ruled that a boss can be sacked for giving an employee a ''violent kiss''.

Quashing an appeal by Salvatore F., former head of inspection services at Sicily's Regional Department for the Family and Social Policies, the Cassation Court said that the man should be suspended after he violently kissed a colleague who had refused his sexual advances.

The judges said their ruling had taken into account the fact that emergency services testified to the ''anxious state'' of the woman on the receiving end of the kiss, which took place on July 24 last year.
