Dida banned for Celtic actUEFA on Thursday banned AC Milan goalkeeper Nelson Dida for two games for exaggerating a brush with a Scottish fan at the end of last week's 1-0 defeat to Celtic in Glasgow.

Dida, 34, got the two-game Champions League ban for breaking UEFA rules upholding "fairness, integrity and sportsmanship".

The Brazilian goalie was widely ridiculed for the incident, which took place in added time, shortly after the Scottish side scored its winner when Dida fluffed a save.

A Celtic fan made a one-man incursion, chucked Dida gratefully under the chin, and ran off with the goalie in initial pursuit.

After a few strides Dida changed his mind and fell theatrically to the ground, holding the side of his head.

He was given treatment on the field before being stretchered off.

According to most pundits, Dida was hoping to get the result of the match reversed.

Games are usually awarded to teams which are the victims of crowd violence.

Milan said immediately after the game that it would not complain to UEFA in a bid to overturn the result.

Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti called Dida's reaction "a mistake".

Celtic was also punished for the incident.

UEFA imposed a 35,000-euro fine on the Scottish champions for lax crowd control.

Last week Celtic moved swiftly to hand a life ban to the supporter, 27-year-old Robert McHendry, who escaped back into the crowd but handed himself in to police the following day.

McHendry admitted a breach of the peace in court last Friday and will be sentenced next month.
