Dogs have the "existential right" to bark their muzzles off, according to a northern Italian justice of the peace .
Justice Clemente Ravetto said this was his reason for overruling a claim by a pensioner from Rovereto for damagers against a neighbour whose two Dobermans bark all day and night .
Instead of getting compensation, the pensioner was told he must put up with the noise and pay the court costs .
"I'm so disappointed with this sentence that I'm not even going to appeal," he told a local daily, the Trentino .
"The moral of the story seems to be that if your neighbour's dog ruins your life, then that's your business" .
Ravetto, apparently an animal lover, also barred the dogs' owner from using a special collar - which gives off high-frequency sounds when the animals bark - to keep them quiet .
