Animal rights associations were up in arms on Monday after a group of Italian teenagers posted a video on interactive Internet site Youtube in which they apparently tried to get a goldfish drunk.
''These wretched people first pour alcohol into the fish tank and afterwards continue to mess around with it for a further 10 minutes before flushing it down the toilet, the whole time swearing and laughing derisively,'' said the 100% Animal Rights Association, which scans the Web for animal cruelty.
The association reported the video to the police and it was immediately removed from the website.
This is the second time an Italian-made video of animal cruelty was posted on the popular Internet site in the last two months.
In February, animal rights campaigners alerted police to a video in which teenagers from Padua used a firecracker to make a mouse explode.
