Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati Motor Holding SpA expects to exceed 40,000 sales for 2007 and to post better results than in 2006, says Gabriele Del Torchio, chief executive officer of the company.
Speaking in Madonna di Campiglio, northern Italy, on the sidelines of the presentation of the new MotoGP racing team, Del Torchio said on Tuesday that the company was doing very well on the American market .
Despite the weak dollar, Ducati managed to raise prices in the US and it sold 400 Desmo 16 models there, out of a total 1,500, he said.
A total 75% of Ducati production is exported, the CEO said, claiming this share was about to rise further. Yet, the Italian market remains fundamental, Del Torchio continued.
The sales on the US market slightly exceed 10,000 in 2007, he said.
The management of Ducati will present its 2008-2010 global development plan in the week starting January 14, 2008.
