An Italian military helicopter crashed near Strasbourg in eastern France on Thursday, killing all eight people on board.
The HH-3F Agusta Bell helicopter had been taking part in a joint training exercise coordinated by Italy and France along with a second helicopter when the accident happened.
Rescuers said the helicopter crashed in isolated countryside and set on fire.
Italian politicians sent condolences to the victims' families and held a minute's silence in parliament.
