F1: Ferrari extends Massa's contract to 2010Ferrari announced on Tuesday that it had extended the contract of Brazilian driver Felipe Massa until the end of the 2010 Formula 1 season.

Massa, 26, joined Ferrari in 2001 but worked first as a test driver before being farmed out to the Sauber team.

He became Ferrari's official driver in 2006 alongside seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, who retired at the end of last season.

The extension of Massa's contract would appear to dismiss rumors that Ferrari was interested in replacing him with reigning world champion Fernando Alonso of Spain.

Alonso is leaving McLaren at the end of this season and pundits believe he will return to Renault, with which he won the 2004-2005, and 2005.2006 titles.

Massa's contract had been set to expire at the end of the 2009 season, at the same time as his teammate Kimi Raikkonen of Finland.

In his two years as an official Ferrari driver, Massa has taken part in 34 Grand Prix and collected five victories, sixteen podium finishes, eight pole positions, eight fastest race laps and a total of 166 points.

He is currently fourth in the drivers' standings ahead of this weekend's last Grand Prix of the season, at his home town track of Interlagos in Brazil.
