Ferrari's former technical director Ross Brawn, part of the 'dream team' that gave the Italians six straight constructors titles, has denied having plans to begin a new career with a different team.
"All the reports linking me to other teams or projects outside Ferrari are pure speculation. Ferrari is the only team or group with whom I have discussed my future," Brawn told ANSA on Wednesday.
The 52-year-old British engineer was responding to claims made in an Italian newspaper interview by former Ferrari colleague Nigel Stepney, the man at the centre of the recent Formula 1 spy scandal.
Stepney told La Repubblica that there were plans at one point for Brawn to lead a group of disgruntled Ferrari team members, including Stepney himself, into a new project with a different Formula 1 team.
"After ten fantastic years at Ferrari, the people and culture of the team are in my heart," Brawn said. "Ferrari is my team, the only one I've discussed my future with. All the rest is speculation".
The Ferrari strategy expert took a year's sabbatical at the end of the 2006 season and was expected to start reconsidering his future with Ferrari by the middle of the current championship.
He confirmed that talks had begun but indicated that no decisions had yet been taken.
In the meantime, he said he was continuing to enjoy his free time and to indulge his passion for fishing.
