Italian car maker Fiat sold 96,417 new cars in western Europe in October this year, 7.1% more than in October 2006, the company said in a statement.
In September 2007 Fiat's new car sales in western Europe, including the 15 euro zone countries and the EFTA countries, climbed 3.4% year-on-year to 94,356 units.
Fiat new car sales in the euro zone and EFTA over the first ten months of 2007 went up 6.7% on the year to 1,019,013 units from 955,100 units a year earlier.
The carmaker gained a 7.9% market share in October 2007 compared to a 7.8% share in October 2006 and 7.1% in September 2007.
The group's market share in the euro zone and EFTA countries in the first ten months of 2007 stood at 8.1% against 7.6% a year earlier.
EFTA (European Free Trade Association) includes Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
