Fiat to launch 4 new models in IndiaItalian car maker Fiat Automobiles SpA will launch four new car models on the Indian market as of the third quarter of the next financial year, Alfredo Altavilla, senior vice president of Fiat India said.

Fiat will start selling its Grande Punto, Linea, 500 and Bravo in India. The Grande Punto and Linea cars will be produced in the Italian company's Ranjangaon plant in western India.

The Fiat 500, which was voted Car of the Year 2008, and the Bravo will be imported, Altavilla said.

Fiat is currently selling around 2,000 of its Palio model cars in Italy. The cars sold on the Indian market are also assembled in Ranjangaon.

The car maker plans on increasing the capacity of its plants in India by the end of 2008. The Italian group also plans to sell around 70,000 cars in India by 2010.

Fiat is aiming for a leading position on the Indian market in its car segment, Altavilla said.
