Italy's GDP increased by 0.4% in the first quarter of 2008 compared to the last quarter of 2007, Istat said in a preliminary estimate Friday.
Istat said the growth - 0.2% in year-on-year terms - was better than expected thanks to the agricultural, industrial and service sectors.
GDP fell 0.4% in the last quarter of 2007, it said.
