The 61st edition of Italy's Pitti Immagine Filati, internationally acknowledged as the leading event in the field of yarns for the knitting industry, opens in Florence on Wednesday.
The event, which takes place in Florence's Fortezza da Basso fortress, will present a total 127 brands, of which 34 foreign.
A total 31 of the participants will take part in the event's Fashion At Work section, focused on the complementary activities and technological innovations in the textile sector.
Italian and international textile designers will show their autumn/winter 2008/09 collections at the 2007 summer edition of Pitti Immagine Filati.
The previous summer edition of the event was held in July 2006 and attracted 7,161 buyers with a significant presence of buyers from Korea, Taiwan, Russia and China.
The turnover of Italy's yarn industry stabilised in 2006 after the crisis from the period 2001 to 2005.
