After an over-20-year hiatus, Italy's forest rangers will once again be riding motorcycles, thanks to an agreement with the Ducati motorcycle company
On a trial basis, the forest ranger corps will be given two Ducati Multistrada bikes which will be tested out on the narrow and tortuous roads and trials of Italy's vast parklands and forests.
The Multistrada model was chosen for its versatility both on and off the road, its powerful 1100cc motor, special clutch system and shock-absorbing handlebars.
The two new Ducati bikes will make their official debut on Thursday at a celebration marking the 184th anniversary of the creation forest ranger corps, to be held at the presidential seaside retreat in Castelporziano, just south of the capital.
