Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini spoke about the Georgia crisis on the telephone Tuesday with United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, foreign ministry sources said.
Frattini told Rice about Monday's European Union summit on Georgia where the EU pledged to help Georgia recover from Russia's military intervention but stopped short of pressuring Russia other than suspending meetings on an economic pact.
Foreign ministry sources said Frattini also conferred with the secretary of state about Frattini's visits to Georgia and Russia on Wednesday and Thursday.
