AC Milan and Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso had a knee operation Monday that will keep him out of action ''for about six months,'' the club website said.
The operation on cruciate ligaments in the player's right knee was a complete success, Milan said.
Gattuso is known for fast recoveries but the injury appears to have ended his season.
