Gilardino 'hand-ball' to video judge

Alberto Gilardino's controversial opening goal in Fiorentina's 3-1 win against Palermo Sunday will go to a video judge Monday to decide whether he should be disciplined for handling the ball, the Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC) said.

The Italy striker said after the match that he did not realise he had hit the ball with his arm but subsequently admitted he did after seeing the video.

He said he was fouled and would have been given a penalty if the ball had not gone in - a claim supported by the referee.

Palermo Chairman Maurizio Zamparini said Monday Gilardino deserved a five-match penalty and called the player's goal celebration ''incredible''.
