The Italian government on Monday vowed to clamp down on dangerous dogs after a 75-year-old woman was mauled to death by her pitbull.
Current provisions on the compulsory use of muzzles and leashes will be ''strengthened,'' Welfare Undersecretary Francesca Martini said.
Consumer protection association Codacons said the woman's death highlighted the need for the list of dangerous dogs to be widened and not scrapped as the government currently plans.
