A 90-year-old granny has become a radio star on the Sicilian island of Lampedusa.
Rosina Costina has a regular Saturday slot dispensing traditional recipes and wisdom.
Nicknamed 'Granny Rosa DJ', Costina says she is ''surprised by the amount of fan mail I get''.
Her show, called 'Granny Rosa's Tagliatelle', is one of the staples of the weekend fare on Radio Delta Lampedusa.
On a recent show she entertained listeners with a story of a WWII incident when she was knocked out by the blast from an Allied bomb.
''I was in a coma for three months but I just got on with things after that,'' she said.
Costina, who has ten children and 22 grandchildren, says she loves being a radio performer.
''I prefer being with young people. Coming here on a Saturday gives me a buzz...The things I say come from the heart and when they come out I feel better,'' she told local daily La Sicilia.
