Pier Francesco Guarguaglini from Tuscany's Castagneto Carducci - head of Finmeccanica - was the man able to transform the Italian company from the Cinderella of European industry into a main player able to beat high caliber rivals like Eads, the largest European aerospace agency.

A recent story in the Financial Times recognized Pier Francesco Guarguaglini, at the helm of Finmeccanica since 2002, as responsible for the group's rise.

This is a man that has not made a false move as evidenced in the case of his latest venture: the acquisition of American company Drs Technologies.

''Guarguaglini? A tough and determined Tuscan who loves to do things in a simple and direct way'', says the Financial Times article.

Fundamental qualities that proved indispensable in the purchase of the US company, a move that puts Italian industry at the top of the pyramid of international investments on Italy's part and that, as the FT explains, ''consecrates Finemeccanica as trusted supplier to the Pentagon''.

The British periodical highlights the fact that the group's rise is due to the winning strategy of its president and general manager, Guarguaglini, who ''acted quickly and refocused Finmeccanica''.
