Fashion house to open its largest outlet ever in 2008 - The Gucci fashion house is set to open its largest store in New York City in 2008, a company statement announced.
Gucci has been in the Big Apple since 1953 but beginning early next year it will move its store to the corner of Fifth Avenue and 56th Street - the most elegant and luxurious area of Manhattan.
The three-floor superstore will cover 4,200 square metres and will sell Gucci's clothing and accessories collections.
A large space will be devoted to jewellery and there will be a special entrance for their most important clients.
The official opening date has not been set, but Madonna will be hosting a UNICEF and Malawi benefit at the store on February 6th.
The event is sponsored by Gucci's creative director, Frida Giannini.
The evening is a fundraiser for orphans and children otherwise affected by HIV in Africa .
Giannini and Madonna will be joined by numerous other celebrities including Adrien Brody, Arpad Busson, Salma Hayek and François Henri Pinault, Te'a Leoni, Lucy Liu, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Gwyneth Paltrow and economist Jeffrey Sachs.
