Italy striker Luca Toni said he was happy to hand coach Marcello Lippi a share of the world's unbeaten coaching record with his equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Greece Wednesday night.

''I'm happy that my goal also served to give the boss the record,'' Toni said.

''I owe him a lot, he kept faith with me during my lean spell,'' the Bayern Munich frontman said.

Toni's goal was his first since a 3-1 win against Portugal in February.

''After nine months, it's a beautiful baby,'' Toni said.

With 31 straight games without defeat, Lippi joined Spain's Javier Clemente and Argentina's Alfio Basile.

He set a new Italy record, moving past the great Vittorio Pozzo.
