Tourists in Venice were amazed Friday when a drug-laden speedboat zoomed along the city's famed Grand Canal with a police boat in hot pursuit.
Rocking gondolas with their slipstream, the drug traffickers managed to give the police the slip in one of the smaller waterways with which the lagoon city is riddled.
But an alert cop had taken the boat's number and the owner's house was swiftly raided.
Police seized cocaine and cannabis, arresting the 49-year-old for drug trafficking.
