An id card for shoes

The ID Card for Shoes is an initiative that promotes a new and secure guarantee, based on the ability to trace the origin of shoes.

The initiative was promoted by the Centro Servizi Calzaturiero (Ce.Se.Ca), which thanks to the Environmental Ministry and the Lucca Chamber of Commerce launched the first example of its kind in Italy.

Through an internet connection and access to the Ecodatabase site, a portal dedicated to shoes, it will be possible to have information on the life cycle of the product.

It is a system designed to stop counterfeiting and to save ''Made in Italy'', but above all to save ''Made in Tuscany''.

According to data supplied by the regional Unioncamere, as of December 31, 2007, 3,126 companies in Tuscany were involved in the shoe making trade.

These numbers constitute 19.3% of the national total; almost 20% of Italian exports in the sector come from Tuscan businesses.
