Industrial production in Italy increased by 0.3% year-on-year for January to November 2007, the Italian National Statistics Institute ISTAT said.
In November 2007, intermediate goods output decreased by 4.4%, the production of instrumental goods went down 3.4% and consumer goods output dropped by 2.8%, compared to a year ago.
Production of durable consumer goods went down 7.4% and production of non-durable consumer goods dropped by 1.6%. The energy, gas and water sector registered the highest increase in working-day-adjusted output with a 10% rise, followed by the transport vehicles sector with 4.1% and the paper and publishing industry with 3.0%.
The leather goods and footwear sector reported a 13.7% drop in the output, while the industrial output of refined petroleum products decreased by 12.4%.
The wood and wood products sector reported an 8.1% drop in output.
Output in the other manufacturing industries decreased by 7.9%.
On a monthly basis, industrial production fell 0.9% in November 2007.
The working-day-adjusted industrial output in November 2007 increased by 2.3% month-on-month in the energy sector, but dropped by 2.1%, 1.3% and 0.3% month-on-month in the instrumental, intermediate and consumer goods sectors, respectively.
