Inter Milan are out to reverse last week's 6-2 rout at AS Roma in the return leg of the Italian Cup final Thursday to clinch their second consecutive double.
It is a mighty challenge, even for a team that secured the Serie A title with five games to spare last month.
But Inter insist it can be done.
"We know it will be difficult to come back from the first leg but we have to try," said captain Javier Zanetti.
"We'll only be able to pull it off if the team is united".
Inter's hopes of beating Roma in the final for the third successive year have been boosted by the character they showed Sunday when they came from 2-0 down to beat Lazio 4-3 in Serie A.
With Hernan Crespo in formidable form - the Argentine scored both his side's first-leg goals and hit a hat-trick against Lazio - scoring four goals is not an unrealistic prospect.
The problem is that the defensive fragility they have shown in the last two games suggests they may have trouble keeping a clean sheet.
"We have to be more careful in defence and we have to believe we can do it," said Crespo.
Coach Roberto Mancini is without Italy stopper Marco Materazzi and French midfielder Olivier Dacourt, who are both suspended, as well as injured striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and defender Walter Samuel.
But Brazil star Adriano and Argentina forward Julio Cruz are recovering from minor physical problems and should be ready to take a place on the bench on Thursday at least.
Mancini admitted that his team has relaxed after winning the title and that it is difficult to be optimistic about retaining the cup.
But he also stressed that: "Soccer is strange, you never know. It won't be easy, but we want to do our best and give a good performance".
The coach called on his men not to repeat the sleepy start they made last week, when they were three goals down after 16 minutes.
"Let's hope we get into the game straight away this time and do better," he said.
Zanetti rejected suggestions last week's humiliating 6-2 defeat had blemished a season Inter have dominated.
"You cannot criticize a team that has had an extraordinary season and won the championship by a massive margin," said the 33-year-old.
Zanetti claimed the loss was a freak result, like Roma's 7-1 humbling at Manchester United in the Champions League quarter-final.
Roma return to the San Siro Stadium a month after handing Inter their only league defeat of the season there (1-3).
Roma coach Luciano Spalletti called Thursday's game "the most important in the last two years".
First-leg stars Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi and David Pizzarro have recovered from injuries, he said - though Pizzarro still has a painful foot and will be a last-minute choice.
Spalletti said Roma only had a 51% chance of taking the trophy.
But barring a miraculous comeback, Roma will lift the Italian Cup for the eighth time on Thursday.
That will put them one trophy behind the competition's most successful side, Juventus, who have won it nine times.
Inter have won five Italian cups in their history.
