Italy's Adriano Malori won the under-23 time trial at the world cycling championships in Varese Tuesday.
Malori, 20, beat Germany's Patrick Gretsch by 50 seconds and Australia's Cameron Meyer by one minute five seconds.
The event was the first at the championships, which culminate Sunday in the elite road race where Italy's Paolo Bettini is bidding to win his third straight title.
