Italy will be looking for their first-ever win against France as they make a last-ditch effort to avoid the Six Nations wooden spoon at the Stadio Flaminio on Saturday (13:15 GMT).
Scrumhalf Paul Griffen has recovered from a rib injury, allowing coach Nick Mallett to select the same team that ran champions Wales close a week ago.
The Azzurri were ahead with ten minutes to go at the Flaminio Sunday before a late Wales try sank them 20-15 in what was by far their best performance of the tournament.
Mallett's side previously suffered heavy defeats to England, Ireland and Scotland.
But France, too, one of the pre-tournament favourites, went down to a 34-10 loss at Twickenham last time out and coach Marc Lievremont has suggested a win for Italy might be on the cards.
''Italy has always won at least one match in the Six Nations and this time it could be us. We have to be focused,'' he said.
Italy centre Gonzalo Canale, who plays his club rugby at Clermont, thanked Lievremont for this ''mark of respect'' and added that ''we put on a good show against Wales, showing we could win''.
Flanker Mauro Bergamasco, who plays for Stade Francais, was less optimistic.
''They could play the match against England 100 times and the result would be different. Last week's game was an accident. We've played France after they've won, after they've lost, and we've always been beaten''.
''Whatever state France is in, physically and morale-wise, it's going to be very tough, especially as they're going to want to end on a high note,'' said Bergamasco.
He also noted that the four changes Lievremont has made - fullback Damien Traille, centre Florian Fritz, and pack members Julien Bonnaire and Fabien Barcella - would make France ''stronger and more experienced than they were against England''.
Only a clear win against the French would prevent the wooden spoon coming to Rome for the seventh time in the ten-year history of the tournament.
