Italy last year saw an increase in the number of tourists coming to the country, reversing a five-year negative trend, the Italian Touring Club said in a new report.
The study, presented here at the annual Milan Tourism and Culture trade fair, found that there was a 10% increase in the number of tourists coming to Italy in 2006 over the previous year.
The increase, however, did not change Italy's position among the top ten countries for tourist arrivals where it remains in fifth place.
Italy ranked fourth for turnover generated by tourism at $35.4 billon.
