The travelling promotional tour of Italy's most important wine trade fair, Vinitaly, winds up its visit to the United States on Friday with a stop in the world's gambling capital Las Vegas. Thursday saw the show, which aside from wine also promotes olive oil and other quality products, in Los Angeles while the tour opened on the 24th in Chicago.
The stop in Chicago attracted over 1,000 operators in the wine and restaurant business, according to Giovanni Mantovani, CEO of the Verona trade fair authority Veronafiere, which organises Vinitaly. The Vinitaly travelling show will visit a total of five countries this year. It has already been to India and Russia and after the US it will make its first-ever appearance in Japan. China will be the year's last stop.
Vinitaly celebrated its 40th year in Verona last April with a record attendance. The fair has over the years expanded to include Sol, the olive oil fair now in its 12th year, and includes a division for olive oil, and Enolitech, which showcases the latest technology for the production of both
wine and olive oil.
The 41st edition of Vinitaly will run in Verona from March 20 to April 2007.
