Italian film-makers and actors took to the streets of Rome on Monday to protest the huge cuts that Italy's cash-strapped government is having to make to relevant arts&culture funds.
Almost 130 million euros are being cut from what is called the FUS fund for film productions, opera houses, dance and music performances.
The artists, holding back balloons, protested outside parliament.
Former Rome Mayor, Walter Veltroni stated that there is a danger for the Italian arts industry which employs more than 200 000 people - comparing it to the size of Fiat.
Some are even threatening to boycott the Venice Film festival, meant to take place from the 2nd to the 12th of September.
